Six Perryville High School art students were recently featured in the “Here.Literary Magazine” published by The Southeast Missourian. They were among 14 regional students whose artwork was featured in the August issue of the magazine. All are students in Ms. Heather White’s classes.

The students and their works are:

  • Jasmine Muench, Class of 2024, “Vryheid Vir Almal”

  • Meredith Lewis, Class of 2024, “Life in Death”

  • Sofia Buerck, Senior, “Hope”

  • Elise Lauck, Senior, “Youth”

  • Lydia Barrows, Senior, “Internal Battle”

  • Mayu Nishikawa, Junior, “Sphinx”

Ms. White said she was thrilled for her students to be recognized.  “As a teacher I want my kids to walk out of my classroom feeling proud or accomplished by something they created,” she said. “Through this publication, our kids at PHS are experiencing those feelings of accomplishment outside of the school and in the art community on a larger scale. This publication opened the door for people across Southeast Missouri to recognize and view our students' talent in their art. This publication is a great accomplishment and recognizes our kid's growth in the art world. I am proud to be their art teacher and honored to watch them grow as artists.”
